Social for Snopes in 2020

THREAD: Sometimes the best way to get information out on Twitter is to weave a narrative around it.

I was hired at Snopes ahead of the 2020 election to get their fact checks in front of the people who needed to see it. Then 2020 happened.

My time there ended up covering not only the election but the Covid-19 pandemic, the BLM protests, and the Jan. 6 insurrection (not to mention the fun urban legends that snopes is best known for, like exploding whales).

On Twitter (now X), we discovered that the most engaging strategy was to create longform threads about a specific topic or event. The threads were very popular, picking up hundreds of retweets and driving traffic to the site.
